Gematria is a method of interpreting words based on an equivalence between a letter and a numerical value.

In Qabbalah, the equivalence between letters and numbers is obtained through various rules. The most commonly used one, and the one of this calculator, consists in associating to the first 9 letters the first nine numbers, then to the next 9 the tens and to the last four the hundreds, then come the finales.

This makes it possible to find semantic congruences between words where the mathematical sum of the values of the letters is the same. This reveals the hidden meaning of certain phases of the Torah.
